                  About
                    The Author

Larry and his wife grew up
near Minneapolis, Minnesota. For the past 20 years, he has
been living in a small town near Milwaukee, Wisconsin with his
wife and 3 (now grown up) children.
Larry has a highly eclectic background. Out of
high school he attended and graduated from an automotive trade school. He went
to work for a Chevrolet car dealership where he apprenticed and became a
journeyman auto mechanic.
Bored with auto mechanics, he went back to
school to learn electronics where he earned an electronics degree with a
computer systems major. He graduated with honors.
General Electric - Medical Systems Group, hired
him out of electronics school. He spent the next 7 years "in the field"
installing and repairing medical equipment (C.A.T Scanners, vascular x-ray
equipment, patient monitoring systems). He spent several of those years working
primarily in the demanding position of GE liaison for Mayo Clinic in Rochester,
Minnesota.
Due to his long working hours, his kids didn't
get to see their dad very often. To rectify the situation, he took a job
transfer to GE Medical Corporate where he worked in Field Service Development
Engineering. He developed and wrote service manuals that described installation
and setup procedures. He then took an internal promotion to Systems Engineering
where he developed system setup procedures and then wrote system design
specifications to introduce his ideas into new x-ray equipment designs.
Seeing there was a global need for better
technical documentation, Larry found a business partner and started a technical
documentation company they named Docu-Net. This company grew very fast and
earned position number 456 on the 1993 Inc 500 list - a list composed by Inc.
Magazine of the 500 fastest growing, privately held, companies in the United
States.
Larry and his partner sold Docu-Net at the end
of 1999 to a public company called Interleaf. Interleaf was then sold to a
company called Broadvision.
After selling the company he has been working
at several "work from home" ventures. Since he has been writing and/or selling
books for more than 20 years, he decided to write this "how-to" book leveraging
what he has learned about this business.
